he's actually got a very broad range of traits if you look closely! for example, he's fidus, and also... [squinting at the smeared writing on the back of my hand] i think this says fidus again

i had a Latin teacher who mentioned in passing that he wrote his entire thesis on Achates's character and I regret not asking how that worked out to this day
