So glad you mentioned Lavinia by Ursula K. Le Guin. It had been on my to-read list forever and I finally decided to read it while getting the Aeneid Daily emails. Jumping back and forth between the two of them was a lot of fun.
Oh I would absolutely love it! I signed up for Dracula Daily 2 years ago - I just love being reminded to take time out of my day to do something that I am passionate about i.e. reading haha. I don't even feel guilty reading it at work, I just see it as a task I have set for myself and it must be done!
Thank you for putting this together 💛 I'd been meaning to read it for ages after becoming obsessed w the Iliad and odyssey in like 2009 and then diving headfirst into an Ancient Rome special interest a few years ago but it felt too intimidating to tackle the Aeneid. But this was so much more approachable and engaging than I expected and I fell in love with it. I ended up reading both the Kline and Fagles translations at the same time to compare and now that it's over I'm about to listen to a lecture series about it. And I probably wouldn't have gotten around to reading it without getting small sections in my inbox every day!! So thank you!! 💛
thank you so much for this lovely comment! i'm really glad that you found it more approachable than you were expecting; i totally understand how scary it can be to get into a work this complex and weighty. i'm so happy you enjoyed it! thank YOU for coming along on the quest!
